Rabbi Liat Yardeni-Funk is excited to return to Sephardic Temple Tifert Israel (STTI) where she feels like coming “back home” after she was the Director of Education at STTI from 1998 to 2003. Rabbi Yardeni-Funk will serve as our new Director of Education. Rabbi Yardeni-Funk will direct & manage our Religious School, teach adult Torah classes and Family Education events, as well as initiate new women Shabbat services spirituality activities.
She will continue to work full-¬time at Milken Community High School as the Director of the Tiferet Israel Program where Grade 10 students study a semester in Israel.
Before working at Milken, Rabbi Yardeni¬Funk worked as the Rabbi and Director of Judaic Studies at Stephen S. Wise Temple Elementary School. Prior to that, she worked as the Director of Education at Camp Ramah, California. Her curriculum “Israel, Then, Now and Forever” was developed as an experiential and interactive Israel curriculum for campers.
Rabbi Yardeni¬Funk was born and raised in Jerusalem. Her passion for Israel and Judaism is the main driving force in her life. Her goal is to inspire the Jewish community to love & stay deeply committed to the Jewish traditions, to Israel, its Hebrew language, and its people and rich history. She served as a Second Lieutenant in the Israeli Intelligence Unit of the Israeli Defense Forces.
She completed her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned her first M.A. in Education from California State University Northridge (CSUN). Rabbi Yardeni¬-Funk graduated from The Academy for Jewish Religion (AJR) where she received her second M.A., in Talmud and Rabbinic Studies and she received her Rabbinic ordination from AJR rabbinical school in 2006.
Rabbi Yardeni¬-Funk is married to Mark Funk a CFO, and together they have two children; a daughter, Karen Or and a son, Jonathan Tzvili, (Yoni).
