Rabbi Jacob M. Ott becomes the spiritual leader of the community. He will lead for 33 years, until 1992.

Purchase of a plot of land to build the synagogue at 52nd St. and 2nd Ave in Southwest Los Angeles. However, due to financial constraints, the synagogue was never built and the land was sold.

Founding of the Sephardic Community of Los Angeles by 40 Sephardim.
